Volunteering at Golden West Tower (low income senior housing)

First 10 members to RSVP "Yes"

Golden West Towers
3510 Maricopa St
Torrance, CA

Meet at Dining Room on the 1st floor

Monthly birthday party serves around 100 low-income disabled senior residents every month. Volunteers need to arrive at Golden West Towers by 12:00 pm. We will help preparing the tables and chairs before the party starts at 1:30 pm. The drinks and prepared food will be served by the volunteers.

If any volunteers have a talent, such as playing instruments, singing, dancing, etc. For the performance arrangement, please contact Christine at[masked] at least 1 week before the event for coordinating with other performances. It would be great if you can perform for seniors during the party as an entertainment. After the party we will help with cleaning the tables and chairs. Lunch and drinks are provided for volunteers on the 14th floor after cleaning all up about at 3:00 pm.

Parking Info:
Street parking or at Church of Christ across the street. When you park in the church Please park facing the west side wall. You Must Not park in the middle row of the parking nor the east side wall.

Project Access, a nonprofit organization, establishes Senior and Family Resource Centers on-site at many low-income apartment communities throughout California, to serve the “working poor.” Collaborating with community service providers, Project Access helps this multi-generational and culturally diverse population connect with many programs and services including prenatal/maternal health, parenting, nutrition, school readiness, after-school tutoring, English as a Second Language, adult literacy, computer and job training, and financial education as well as low-cost health care and insurance application assistance. Project Access is helping those in need develop skills, self reliance and community connections, ultimately providing the tools necessary for these citizens to help themselves.
