US NAVY BLUE ANGELS - Miramar Air Show

Miramar MCAS Air Show 2012

 

Every year, MCAS Miramar holds an airshow with both static and flying displays showing the very best weapons in the US arsenal. The F22 raptor, AV-8B Harrier, the Blue Angels plus more civilian stunt planes will keep you looking skyward for a good part of the day. The show is free, parking is free, so put it down on your calendar!

 


 

Directions

Marine Corps Air Station Miramar is located about 15 miles north of downtown San Diego, between Interstate Highways 805 and 15.

By motor vehicle, access the...
• Main (East) Gate from the MCAS Miramar (Miramar Way) exit on I-15.
• North or West Gates from the Miramar Rd. exit on I-15 or I-805.

By bicycle, access the...
• Main (East) Gate via Kearny Villa Rd., except when Kearny Villa is closed from 12-4pm
for the Blue Angels.
• West Gate from Miramar Rd.
• North Gate from Clayton Dr.

Once on base, bicyclists will be routed by traffic control to the Bicycle Parking Pavilion (BPP) near the flight line.

Permitted/Prohibited Items

Are wagons (i.e. Radio Flyer) allowed?
Yes.

Will wagons or strollers be available to rent?
No.

Is ear protection recommended?
Yes. Please check back for furtherinformation.

Are folding/beach chairs allowed?

Yes.

Are tents or awnings, pop-ups or shade canopies allowed?
No. Only hand-held umbrellas are allowed; however, if they're used in seating, they 
cannot block the view of other patrons.

Are coolers allowed into the event?
Yes. Small coolers and ice chests, backpacks, hydration bags and tote bags will be permitted but will be searched for security reasons. Essential carry-alls (baby bags, etc.) and all other packages and bags will be carefully inspected to ensure everyone's safety. Glass containers are not allowed and will be confiscated.

Will outside food be allowed?

Yes.

Will outside alcoholic beverages be allowed?
No. Beer will be available for purchase from Air Show vendors.

Are Tailgating or BBQ's allowed?
No. Patrons will need to leave their vehicles and view the show from the flight line.
BBQ's are not allowed in the parking lot or on the flight line.

Is Overnight Camping allowed ( ex: Boy or Girl Scout camping)?
No. 

Will scooters and wheelchairs be available to rent?
Yes, wheelchairs and scooters will be available for rent. Please check back for further information.

Will bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, skates, or Razor Brand scooters be allowed on the flight line?
No. Bikes may be secured outside the flight line gates.

Will pets be allowed to enter the Air Show?
No, other than service animals.

Are there any restrictions on bringing weapons to this event?
Yes. Weapons including pocket knives, multi-tools, replica/toy weapons or pepper spray are not allowed and will be confiscated.

Are peace officers (police, sheriff's deputies, etc.) allowed to carry weapons?
If they are in uniform, yes. If they are in plain or civilian clothes, no.

Are FRS/GMRS radios allowed?
FRS/GMRS radios are permitted. VHF band and other scanners are also permitted, but transmitters/transceivers are not.

Are laptop computers or iPads allowed?
Yes.

Can I bring in photography and camera equipment?
Photography and camera equipment is allowed. Just keep in mind that all bags will be searched. Also, in order to keep the entry lines moving along, you'll want to bring what is only absolutely needed. The size of the bags and backpacks listed under Prohibited Items is only a guidance request (we don't want people bringing giant duffle bags). There is no special permission required. You also want to keep in mind that if you're in the Preferred Seating areas, you can't block the view of other patrons.
