Two films stuck in my mind that woke me up to Japanese cinema. One, on late at night when I was in my teens... well I've no idea what it was called. Set around some family's life in an Osaka apartment block. Nothing much happened, very melancholy atmosphere. It made a strong impression that left me feeling quite odd afterwards. Then of course there was The Seven Samurai. It was Ring that got me into Asian Horror and House of Flying Daggers is my all time favourite.
At the moment, Takeshi. I'm here to broaden my repertoire!
Shogun, Not strictly Asian but it was, many many years ago the film that got me interested in Japanese History
