Reincarnation Soup (Orlando Fringe Festival)

Written and performed by fellow ASO member Viet-Dung Nguyen (The Monkey King, Orlando Fringe 2012), Reincarnation Soup is a mythic tale of soup, Saigon, and recycled souls. This intimate solo show will be reprised at the 23rd Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival in May. (Reincarnation is making a comeback!) The play explores Vietnamese memory and mythology through the eyes of eight different characters.

The title refers to the myth of Mạnh Bà, an old blind woman who guards the border between death and rebirth. Before allowing souls to move on to the next life, Mạnh Bà gives them a bowl of memory-erasing soup. Join the Vietnamese souls in this play as they brew stories that are both personal and universal.

Hello again, friends. Just two more tips: 1) The Red Venue is inside the Orlando Shakespeare Theater. When you enter the big glass doors, you will see signs for the Red Venue right in front of you. The volunteers and staff are uber-nice too, so ask them if you're lost.

    2) If you can't find free parking by the theater, there is free parking today just two blocks away, in the Florida Hospital garage. The one on Rollins and Alden.

Please be 45 minutes early! There is no late entry, and I've already had a few friends miss the last performance because of this. :(

Friends, Asians, and countrymen! Lend me your ears. Here are some great Fringe tips from the Orlando Sentinel:,0,7008106.story

Heed tip #3 especially-- get there (45 minutes) early. No Asian time! Parking on Saturdays is crazy. You can also get your tickets online early and avoid the lines.

    Happy Fringing!

Looks like we have another fringe member in ASO as well, so get your button's money worth and go support our two local Asian artists.
