Makings of an Empire: The Mark of the Mughals on South Asia

Date November 9, 2012
Start // End 6:30 pm // 7.45 pm
Venue British Library
Ticket price £7.50 / £5.00 Conc.

Experts discuss the extensive influence of the Subcontinent’s fascinating and far-reaching Mughal heritage.

Among the most striking examples of Mughal heritage are the many beautiful buildings that were constructed in the Mughal style, where the merging of Persian and Indian created some of the world’s best-known monuments. This combination of influences can also be seen in the arts, cuisine, fashion and language, as well in thought, politics, warfare, religious attitudes and lifestyle.

Join an esteemed panel of speakers to discuss the large and prominent mark left by the Mughals on the subcontinent.

Enjoy an extraordinary closing night for this year’s festival: with music, performance and a spectacle of a party at our very own Mughal Palace which takes over the British Library foyer. Click here for tickets and more information.

Tickets for both events are only £7.50 each, and the Mughal Nite ticket includes free entry into the new Mughal Empire exhibition from the British Library. For more information on the exhibition see here.
