This is the book-club's annual trip to Edinburgh during the Festival season. The Festivals include the Fringe Festival, The International Festival and a book festival.
For people who haven't been there during the Festival season, the city has more than 50 venues where various events such as dance, theatre , comedy and everything else go on at the same time. There are at least 50 events every hour. In addition the city also has a book festival, a music festival and art exhibitions on everywhere. All this is in addition to the impromtu events, buskers and other things happening of the streets.
The itinerary for the trip is as follows:
Leave on the Friday 23th August at 8:00 am by Train , arrive Edinburgh at 12:22
Returning Monday 26 August at 16:30, arriving in London at 22:05 pm
Yes it means taking one days off work. 24th August is a bank holiday weekend.
Being a Bank holiday weekend , the prices for both train journey and accommodation have been hiked up as this will be one of the busiest weekend in Edinburgh.
The train fare will be at the moment (03 July) is around £84 both ways.
You also have the option of taking a flight which may be cheaper depending on which part of London you live and how convenient it is for you to get to Luton, Standsted or Gatwick.
Accommodation is in shared self-catering flat. The cost of accommodation is £62 per room per night but if you share it becomes £31 per night. (Please note these places are not quite the same grade as the Ritz or Doncaster)
Therefore the total cost of the trip
1. £84 + £62 x 3 = £270 – For a single room
2. £84 + £31 x 3 = £177 - For a shared room.
A number of events are free, but the more sought after events cost between £5-£15.

Places on this trip are very limited, If you want to come on this trip you need to decide and pay a deposit latest by Wednesday 24th July. The Deposit is 50 % of the total costs. Places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis
