Event (Hosted): SOAS free seminar - J. Lahiri's Interpreter of Maladies & dinner

Hello,

SOAS, University of London, in Russell Square is hosting a free seminar by Dr Kavita Ramdya on Jhumpa Lahiri's "Interpreter of Maladies" (1999) on Monday 11 March 2013, 5:30 pm-7:00 pm.
Kavita's talks are very lively and easy to follow even if you haven't read the books.

"The ninth talk in the series considers Jhumpa Lahiri's "Interpreter of Maladies" (1999), exploring tensions between Indian-immigrant parents and their American-born children, the trials and tribulations which come with immigration from East to West, and arranged marriage in a culture which emphasizes romantic love."

Let's have dinner afterwards at Sagar which is within walking distance:
Off Tottenham Court Rd,
17A Percy Street
London, W1T 1DU.

Meeting information:
We'll meet at 5.15pm at SOAS, Thornhaugh Street, Russell Square, London WC1H 0XG
in the Main Building, room 4421.

The room is small and cosy. We can't miss each other.

I'll have an "ASIAN AUTHORS/BOOKS ABOUT ASIA" sign on the desk in front of me.

If you're familiar with the library at SOAS, the Main Building is the building which houses the library. When you enter the Main Building, go up to the fourth floor. As you exit the lift, room 4421 is on your left.

Please indicate in your RSVP box -- it's easier for me to handle if you write your comment in the RSVP box itself -- whether you'll be joining us for a drink/dinner at Sagar after the seminar.

Cheers,

Florence

Hi, I specifically asked people to indicate whether they'd be joining in for dinner after the seminar so that I can make reservations with the venue and organise my schedule accordingly. I don't want to be in a situation where I make a reservation for 10-12 people and there are only 2 or 3 people who show up. This is more or less what happened for the 1st seminar.

For this one, one person stated below that she/he would join for dinner. That person didn't show up and didn't contact me.
I checked messages and found Sibilla's post saying that she'd probably try to make it to Sagar.
At the very end of the seminar I found myself outside the building with (the member named) "letter" who asked whether there was a dinner event planned or not. There was no mention of other people.
There was one other person who said he had seen the event on this page. Apart from letter, there were no other people from the sign-up list there.
As it was snowing, I went back in to see whether Sibilla had confirmed and whether other people had posted or contacted me in the meantime.
Since no one had posted or contacted me, I told letter that we might do it next time if there's a group of people -- which is the idea and the reason why I've been organising these meetup events.
      Cheers.

Hi, I have looked at your map, (which is a hot link) from your web site; it shows the school of Oriental & African studies being off Penton Rise on the A501, near London Kings Cross. I am now confused, which is the right location? I think other people will also find the same problem, thanks Florence.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
