Book Club - Asian Authors/Books about Asia Message Board › Book Tour - 24th Jan - very last minute idea
Wonder if any group would like to attend an event this Thursday? An old friend of mine has a book launch in Clerkenwell on Thursday night:
Jan 24th, 6.30 PM: Betsy Trotswood, 56 Farringdon Rd, Clerkenwell, London, EC1R 3BL.
should be easy to get to even in the snow and I'm pretty sure its free!
Lars teaches philosophy at Newcastle University (more than a little bit of an expert on Sanskrit philosophy - his father is a wonderfully interesting Keralan), writes modern fiction and gets some pretty good reviews:
''A tiny marvel of comically repetitive gloomery'' -Guardian
"Viciously funny." -San Francisco Chronicle
"What could be more fun than laughing at intellectuals? This, Lars Iyer's first book, sprang from his blog, Spurious, which sprang from his career as a philosophy lecturer at Newcastle University. I'm still laughing, and it's days later. But who, exactly, am I laughing at?" --The Los Angeles Times
"Viciously funny." ---San Francisco Chronicle
