Dear All,

What: "Agomoni Alo" - song-dance recital based on "Mahishashur Mardini"
When: 10th October, 8:15 - 9:30 P.M.
Where: Camden Centre, Bidborough Street, London WC1

"Mahishashur Mardini" (Slayer of the demon Mahishashur) is a revered musical invocation to the Mother Goddess Durga that heralds the festivities of Durga Puja. It is composed of Sanskrit Shlokas taken from the sacred book Markandeya Purana(believed to be atleast 2500 years old) interspersed with devotional songs. When All India Radio first aired the programme on Akashvani, Calcutta in 1932 with the legendary Birendra Krishna Bhadra doing the recital, it ingrained into collective popular memory like nothing before.

This year's Durga Puja celebration at Camden Town Hall will see one of our book club members, Nivedita Sengupta, performing the recital to be held on 10th October 2013 between 8:15 pm and 9:30 pm. Please visit the link for more details:

smile Thanks Neel for taking the initiative to invite our fellow book club members for this auspicious event. A cordial welcome to ALL members -- on behalf of London Camden Durga puja committee. It will be a great religious, social, and cultural get together , a little bit of something for the whole family. May Goddess Durga / Amba bless you and your family and fulfil all your good wishes both personally and professionally. Look forward to see you there. I will be on stage myself performing ( narration and chondipaath ) but please do not hesitate to contact me if you need further details and help. Many Thanks.
