2nd Annual Family Portrait Event

Hi Photographers!

** We will be meeting by Shelter A which is at the park entrance.  Use the very first parking lot otherwise you will be far away from us. =)

Please take a moment to fully read about this event before committing...

We did this last year with the help of Regina getting families together, getting their model releases for the photographers and more.  Her assistance was invaluable.  It was a great learning experience for all who participated.  Let’s try it again!

Family portraits is one area of our business that doesn't seem to slow, families are always growing and changing.   Holidays will soon be approaching and families will want holiday portraits so this is a great opportunity to build your portfolio and gain experience working with all types of families.

• Each photographer will have a choice of a ‘station’ to photograph the families.

• First come, first served on choice of ‘station’.

• ‘Stations’ will be close enough to each other that you can see another photographer.

• Be creative at your station, stylize it the way YOU want!

• Families will walk from one station to another.  Some take breaks or skip a station.

• We will have a map for the families so they can find each photographer.

• Bring lighting, reflectors, props, an assistant &/or whatever gear you deem necessary or  desirable for family portraits.

• Be creative, have fun, enjoy the carefully selected families for this event!

• You are to provide each family with 2-3 of your best full res images - no watermark.

• This means you will have about 30 photos to edit and give out.

• Images will be turned in to me and then turned over to families in one envelope w/their number.

• Feel free to add Facebook size photos w/your name or watermark.

• The families will fill out ONE generic model release that will be shared with all photographers.

• Add promotions w/DVD – business cards, discount offers, etc. PROMOTE yourself!

• These are short burst sessions – ultra micro mini sessions.

• Plan on about 5 poses with the family, remember they will get more with the other photographers.

• This will teach you to think fast on feet!

$3.00 park entrance fee – be prepared.

 We don't and won't have photos of the families to share on the site for this session.  They will be coming to us in different family sizes - small to larger families, with little
children to older children.   To get an idea what the event was like last year you can view photographs from last year by clicking HERE.

We have Regina Pittman who will be organizing the families.  So, if you are a participating
family or have a family that you want to bring, please send her the needed information as she will be reconfirming and setting times.  Families will be checking in with Gina first
before seeing any photographers. 

They will be assigned a number and will sign a model release that will be scanned
and sent to all the photographers.  We ask that you don’t use your own model releases for this event as it held up stations when families had to stop and repeat the process. First photo of each family is of them holding their number - this is a MUST.

Okay … the fee; there is a SMALL fee for this session.  The session fee will be going towards a gift certificate for Regina for all her hard work and dedication to this group.  She has provided us several models for this and past events.  I’d like us as a group to provide her a gift card for an evening out with her husband, Ricky.

    This was a fun, fast paced event. It was a good reminder of how mini session events happen - lots of people, tired kids who just want to play with the ducks and water... Do it again? Sure.

There will only be ONE model release form, when Regina has collected all of them they will be scanned and e-mailed to each of you.

      Some had signs that said "family", "love", etc. I had a blanket I brought so they can sit on the ground - might want plastic under this year with the recent rain we had. I think someone brought frames so they could frame themselves. You don't have to bring props - it's entirely up to you. =)

    I already have 15 Families Schedule, so this will be a great event. Last year we had 35 Families. They all loved it and by giving out your business cards, I know some of the photographers that interacted with the families and gave them cards got bookings. Or even just get some more models for your private portfolio building
