Want a Mind Meld? Tell a Compelling Story

We human beings spend hours each day telling and hearing stories. We always have. We've passed heroic legends around hunting fires, kitchen tables and the Web and have told sad tales of lost love on sailing ships, bar stools and cell phones. We've been captivated by Oedipus and Citizen Kane and Tony Soprano.

But why? Why not just communicate information through equations or lists of facts? Why is it that, even in talking about our own random, accidental lives, we impose heroes and villains, crises and resolutions?

Authors these days have the daunting challenge of marketing their own book. In this age of self-publishing, every writer must embrace the fact that they must become a better marketer along with becoming a better writer…if you want to sell more copies of your books.

That is why I found an expert on helping you stand out with a custom WordPress website for writers. With the arrival of the Internet and all its constantly changing technology, every writer now has a wide array of marketing tools available…and much of it is free.

All publishers expect you to have that minimal piece of your author’s platform. Once you have your website built, you can begin to add quality and unique content to your site via blogging and the social media networks. Through WordsandWriters.com, you now can get started building a WordPress website. You will be able to use a proven theme (Website template) that will allow you to start blogging about your book and other writing products. You\’ll also be able to connect your social media network (if you have it set up) to your website.

Now looking at the date and time, I am unsure if I can actually make the meeting. I may have to cancel my RSVP for the April meet-up and reschedule for the one in May. I'm sorry.

Sorry I missed the Meetup in North Tampa but I felt the night drive one day after cataract surgery might pose a problem. I see you are back in my South Tampa for the next one. For the first time since the 4th grade I own no eyeglasses. My Astigmatism was so bad I never wore contacts for they would look like poker chips. I got some 2.0 readers but my eyes with these new optic lenses from St Lukes in Tarpon Springs work better on a computer screen than the readers. The world is so clear and bright I spent five minutes admiring the color collage of waste in my kitchen rubbish can. SEE you next month.

New to this group. I am a published author- Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda...Lessons, Learnings, and Insights from a Mother About Her Daughter's Battle With Cancer. Can someone give me an idea of the things this group does. Do you network about marketing your book? What are your objectives? What type of people are in this group?

This sounds great, Colin! I would love to be there but I'm flying out of town that evening to visit family.
