It's started to dawn on me in recent years that I should be going to meetups like this instead of bars or clubs to meet like-minded people. I also relate wholeheartedly to almost everything in the group description: I am a karaoke addict, have a bunch of DDR games and two expensive pads that don't move around, and I ponder heavy stuff like the consequences of the Singularity and Transhumanism while walking around doing errands. I disagree mildly with the abject loathing of hipsters, having some vaguely hipster tendencies myself. Although I think I can safely say I'm not an actual hipster, as I know nothing about indie or underground music and rarely go to shows.
I already did! Twice!
video games, board games, karaoke, anime, Japanese, D&D, roleplaying games, Final Fantasy XIV, (formerly) World of Warcraft, intellectual discussion and debate, karaoke, Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice and Fire, Star Trek, Firefly, BSG, and karaoke.
I've lived in New York almost half my life, and I currently work as a software developer for a fashion startup. I have been playing video games since the Atari 2600 and I've always been into super-geeky stuff.
