We're excited so many people are interested in forming a tech community in Astoria and wanted to invite everyone to a formal kick off on April 16th at Katch Brewery.

Our goal is to learn about everyone's interests and help to build a fully accommodating tech meetup. So come grab a drink, meet some fellow technologists and help support a local bar in our own backyard.

Here are some things to think about/address for the future of this meetup:
- Do all people live in Astoria? If so, where is optimal location?
- How frequently would people like to meet? (weekly, monthly?)
- How long for each event?
- What is most important to people? (networking, learning, working, exploring Astoria?)

Ideas for this Meetup (please add to list):
- Guest Speakers
- Networking
- Collaborative open source project
- Code Review/Lectures
- Hackathons
- Happy Hour
- Community give back project (i.e. hack to help Astoria?)
- Games/Competitions (tech trivia/code trivia?)

All Feedback is Encouraged! Please let us know your thoughts/opinions! Thanks everyone and we hope to see you at Katch!

I'd be down to do this again. People should start throwing date suggestions out there, and ideas for the next event

OK so who is in the mood for a Monday evening geeking out at a local bar?

It's 10am-5pm. Starts at Snowdonia, bus takes us up to the brewery and the back to the bar.

Great to meet you all! Also, a great decision on location -- I'd walked by that place many times and never knew what it was about.

FYI, I picked up all the name tags and the sharpie at the end of the night. I'll bring them to the next meetup.

Well then, this is convenient. My [tech] company is in the building, and I usually quit around 5.

I'm personally working on two things I'd like to share and seek input and help with:

    - Share my startup project for feedback.
    - Find Drupal devs (especially CiviCRM) and open source advocates (LibreOffice, etc) for NYC government. We have a good chance to make recommendations in this area now!

Plus I'm excited to meet other local geeks. We're well positioned here as the Cornell campus on Roosevelt Island develops.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
