A pleasant meetup with many regulars and a number of first-timers! About 20-25 folks overall, one from as far as New Zealand, plus several canine companions. Our tables were completely shaded and near Coyote Creek, so it didn't start to heat up until near the end, with people leaving about 3:30. .... .... Tons of great food. Our South County hosts had hamburgers, hot dogs, salmon burgers, vegetarian burgers -- something for everyone -- and all the fixin's. The tables were full of veggies, cheese, fruits, salads, breads, chips, dips, and homemade cookies, while the ice chests offered a full range of liquid refreshment. (Farah makes a mean nutty hummus.) .... .... Great conversation from video games and movies to the upcoming planning meeting for Sunday Assembly - Silicon Valley (http://www.meetup.com/Atheist-Community-of-San-Jose/events/130222442/) to a comparison of local water parks, and lots more.

There are two picnic areas at Anderson Lake County Park: Live Oak and Toyon. Which one will we be in?

Also, could someone fix the location and map for this meetup? It just links to "Morgan Hill, CA, Morgan Hill, CA", not to Anderson Lake County Park.

If anyone else is coming late we are actually at the Live Oak area, which is the first parking lot on the left.

For those asking for directions... We will easily visible from the parking area along Cochrane. Simply take Cochrane avenue east from 101. Just after it bends to the right, will be a parking lot entrance on the left. There are a number of picnic tables along the creek. Here's a link w/ directions from San Jose... https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=san+jose,+ca&daddr=Cochrane+Rd&hl=en&sll=37.1646,-121.639445&sspn=0.005771,0.011362&geocode=FfrAOQId1Ae8-Cn1P_mK5MqPgDF7cZ_KCoyduQ%3BFREWNwIdLu2_-A&t=h&mra=ls&z=11

You may be 'easily visible' from the parking area along Cochrane. But there are, as you said 'a number of picnic tables' each of which may have other groups of people that are also 'easily visible' from there. The idea is _not_ to require a potential newcomer (or someone who just doesn't know the people who have arrived so far) to go up to strangers at several tables, in our culture, and ask "Are you the Atheists?"

Could you just have a few green helium balloons tied to the picnic table or something clearly recognizable?

July 19, 2013

• Daniel B

Instead of balloons, how about a rainbow flag? We may end up with extra guests from some LGBT picnic, but they're welcome, too.

Looking forward to seeing everyone! A couple last notes…
- Looks like we have 18 people signed up so far. Please check with your friends and be sure they've RSVP'd if they're coming.
- Tom & I are bringing hamburgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, buns, condiments, etc.
- Are there any vegans out there? If so, I'll make sure we have a clean grate and a vegan burger or two All you have to bring is a smile, but there are a few things we could use more of. Let me know if you can bring any of the following:
- Chairs
- Side dishes, snacks, desserts (ex. Chips, potato salad, mac salad, cookies, …)
- Soft drinks, beer, and wine
