Ron Garret presents: How the Hawaiian Islands provide evidence of an old-Earth

Our very own Ron Garret provides us with evidence against a young-Earth model with the Hawaiian islands! Ron has the first 20 minutes for his presentation, then we can talk science or religion for the remainder of the time. Hope to see you all there!

Excellent Meeting. Great job Ron! I also knew about the "hot-spot" that created the Hawaiian Islands but I did not realize that the chain of islands was so much longer. Book your trip to Kawaii before it disappears!

Excellent meeting and much thanks to Ron for his thorough presentation. Scot did a great job running the meeting in Brian's absence.

George Carlin on volcanoes & lava: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPK8gHBtya8 (very funny!)

Several people were asking about the SF Pride photos. There are three separate flickr hyperlinks which can be found via the ACSJ March in the SF Pride Parade meetup page at http://www.meetup.com/Atheist-Community-of-San-Jose/events/113006372/

An additional set of photos which is of the various freethinker groups marching in the parade can be found at http://www.meetup.com/Atheist-Community-of-San-Jose/photos/15834762/

It was also asked what is the origin of the rainbow flag for LGBT? For info on this, go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow_flag_(LGBT_movement)
And for the history of SF Pride, there is a wikipedia page for that too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Francisco_Pride

Loved the presentation, actually was enraptured (is that bad?). Thanks Ron!

I loved it! Bring on the science!!

I love geography so I already knew a lot about the Hawaiian Islands but I really like what Ron is trying to do. Making it so simple that pseudo science can't dispute it, and anyone can understand it.

Well done presentation, and you made excellent points. Of course, we were sold anyway. Look forward to hearing how creationists respond!

So....maybe the planet's 7,000 years old? Huh? Wha? heh heh heh...

Seriously...this was my first time at an ACSJ event. I enjoyed meeting everyone, and am looking forward to the next event! And I concur with Dana--great presentation, Ron! Thank you for putting this together!

    :)

Sounds like fun--although I'd much rather meet in Hawaii for a discussion about Round Table Pizza... :)

I guess this means that we should have a meetup in Hawaii?

Love your idea! You're paying for the tickets, right? haha!

How about the 700,000 year old horse genome that was recently recovered from a frozen bone. That predates god's little magic trick by a bit.

No, no Tim - That was put there by the devil to test your faith!

If god can put fossils underground, why can't he rearrange geography? No evidence will convince a thoroughly-blindered theist.

Looking forward to our next meetup.
