Hiking at Castle Rock + Bouldering after

We go back to this great location for another hike around. I will bring my crashpad and climbing shoes this time and anyone else who wants to join in that activity after the hike is welcome!

Nice time hiking again even if it was a bit hotter out and a nice picnic at the top. Oui oui!

Excellent hike today!!! Here is a link to the God video I was talking about - this is just about as blasphemous as it gets.

    Caution: crude language, violence.

And a preview of the movie The Troll Hunter

How strenuous is this hike? About how long will it last?

    July 19, 2013

    • Jason G.

I think a good plan would be around 3.5 to 4 hours. I would put it at medium difficulty. It is not flat, but it is not a 14er in Colorado either :) Last time we took a fairly leisurely pace, which allows time for photos, conversation, etc... and I think we should aim for that same approach again!

The plan is to meet at the "Castle Rock Parking Lot" at 9:00. http://www.parks.ca.gov/pages/21299/files/crmap.pdf

Here is some information on the trail: http://www.bahiker.com/southbayhikes/castlerock.html
It says the hike is not for beginning hikers.

So meetup at the state park entrance at 9, right?

    July 19, 2013

  • Jason G.

OK, seems like a majority like the idea of 9am; so be it! Wondering if anyone wants to carpool with me or would have me join them?

Did I overhear some say they'd prefer a 9:00 start time?

9 is fine, I'm getting a ride with Fabienne so whatever she is okay with, I am okay with!

Either one is fine with me.

My vote is 9 am start and the easier 4 mile (my knees..complain).
Also where do we meetup? I'll be leaving from SJ near HP--ooops SAP pavilion. I've wanted to check out Castle Rock for a long time.
