Big Atheist Bowling Night!

Save the date! Saturday night bowling!

So the other lane was extremely pricey and even more so if we go as a group! I came across a groupon for AMF which will give us 2 hours of bowling with shoes for less than $10.00 each person. I am willing to slum it for that!

AMF is a solid bowling alley but doesn't have the food and drink. I am going to move the time back to 5PM and we can all go to dinner somewhere after our "workout"

I purchased a bunch of Groupons so we will all settle up on the day of bowling. It will come out to about $10 per person per 2 hour time slot.

Please RSVP early so I can get an accurate count for the reservation

Even with a different venue, bowling is still luck!

After bowling my first game in over 30 years, I'm still firmly convinced it is luck. First frame, the chances of me knocking down at least five pins were probably about 27%. That's no different than if I were to randomly draw a marble out of a bag of marbles which had 27 green marbles and 73 red marbles. And by the tenth frame, the chances of me knocking down at least five pins had risen to probably around 72%. And that would be no different than randomly drawing a marble out of a bag of marbles in which there were 72 green marbles and 28 red marbles.

My little Tyler bowled a 144. That is priceless! He's only 6 years old!

I will likely not be there until around 6:00 or 6:30. Hopefully that's around the time the second round of games start.

My back is not happy today. I will be there but I don't know if I will bowl.

    December 13, 2013

You should come running with me. I've been close to invalid with back problems and now I run 6 miles at 9 minute per.

I'm still sick with this damn cold. Won't make it to this event, and Sunday Star Wars is starting to look iffy.

I live at 346 Roosevelt avenue in Sunnyvale. Strictly speaking, I could drive it, but if anyone is willing to drive me, I'd much appreciate it. It would also be safer, save space in the parking lot, and I have a placard so we could park near the door both at bowling and at dinner afterwards.

Hey, I just joined this group! I think it's too late to get a T-shirt but I would like to go bowling with you. Is purchase of a T-shirt required?

    December 12, 2013

    • Brian B.

Hey Eddie, t-shirt is not required and you can always buy one later for another bowling night. It was just a fun item to have. We look forward to meeting you!

I think this is the most comments we have had in a Meetup... ever

    2 · December 8, 2013

    • Invisible Pink U.

Christians would probably think their god knows whether or not this is the most comments ever in an ACSJ meetup. But they would also say their god won't tell me what number from 1 to 1,000,000 I'm thinking. Why? Because something that doesn't exist can't have knowledge!

      December 9, 2013

    • Kennita

That is why he won't tell you, but that is not why they would say he won't tell you. I am fairly certain they would say god exists and that he knows; I am not at all certain what excuse they will come up with for why he won't tell you, but I place chances at about zero that they will say it's because he has no knowledge or doesn't exist, much less both!

I have several Groupons, nobody needs to buy one - just pay me back on bowling night

      November 29, 2013

Coolness! I'll see you on the 14th!

I'm down with Big Atheist bowling any night except this one. Remember, nobody farks with The Jesus....that creep can roll, man.

Hey Steve, I put in a suggestion for another bowling night. It's for the Sunday before this. It's cheap too. ($7 or $8 for two games)

      November 26, 2013

    • Steve C.

I can probably make it that night if I don't get stranded in Tahoe with my south bay snowboarders meetup.

      November 26, 2013

  • Judy

I won't be able to get there in time for the bowling this time. Have fun!

    November 24, 2013

    • Lyn C

Hi Judy! I suggested another bowling night for those of us that can't make this one or wish to go to both. So check it out if you still want to bowl another time.

      November 26, 2013

  • Lyn C

Hey Brian. I saw that you said you were changing the time to 5pm (though the official time still says 6) and you plan on doing a 2 hour time slot, so I assume you all will be done by 7pm? I'm asking because if I came I'd be coming out at 7pm or later. So if I'm correct in assuming you'd all be out of there by 7:30?

    November 24, 2013

    • Brian B.

Right, you will miss the bowling but you can meet us afterward for dinner once we decide where to go

      November 24, 2013

    • Lyn C

That wont work for me, but if you don't mind, I'd like to suggest a meet up for bowling on another night.

      November 24, 2013

  • Tim

I purchased the 4 ticket deal. If my oldest doesn't want to go I will have one extra.

    November 21, 2013

  • Lyn C

I love to bowl, but this place is pricy. I normally go to 4th st bowl . On Monday night it's 3 bucks a game staring at 9pm. If anybody is interested in cheap bowling, it might be a fun to get a group together who would be okay with a weeknight in North San Jose.

    November 10, 2013

    • Lyn C

4th st Lanes has a great karaoke bar lounge area with good prices, but the cafe closes fairly early (at least on weekdays). I never go on a weekend night.

Thanks for changing the location. AMC with groupon is really affordable

      November 17, 2013

  • Kennita

10123 N Wolfe just says it's in Cupertino Square, thee saame address as AMC. More detail please; Street View shows no Bowlmor sign that I see. I don't walk so well, so I'd like to park as close to the bowling alley as possible.

    November 10, 2013

    • Kennita

      Thanks!

      November 10, 2013

    • Lyn C

      No Problem!

      November 11, 2013

  • Kennita

I might come if I could skip the $25+ and just eat and drink and cheer people on, and I would gladly pay if I could bowl, but I can't justify $25 or more given that the most likely outcome of my attempting to bowl would be that I injure myself.

    November 9, 2013

    • Brian B.

Not a problem if you just want to come and hang out - the cost would be for those who want to share a lane for a few games.

      Cool -- thanks!

      November 10, 2013
