This is so sad for me. I read Ender's Game when it came out in the 80's and was so looking forward to seeing the movie...

Wow! The Russian Orthodox Church should just team up with the Taliban. They are not far off on their views on treatment of women...

For that matter, fundamentalist, evangelical Christians in the US are equally Taliban-like in their views on women. Christianity in general is not very far removed from the seventh century. Women have gotten recognition as equal human beings and have had their rights recognized in proportion to how much Christianity has lost its power. There are factions in Christianity in the US that would go back to the "barefoot and pregnant" mode if they could get away with it.

Robertson: "Demonic" Dungeons & Dragons "Literally Destroyed People's

This is a warning to all of the game designers out there.
What a frikin' troll this guy is!
Robertson is no worse in this regard than anyone else who believes there is such a thing as actual magic. The basis of his creation myth is magic, and his god accomplishes everything by magic. As long as people have a preschool mentality they will never think like adults.

"I would not be willing to do a funeral for him," said Imam Talal Eid of the Islamic Institute of Boston, a community services organization that frequently arranges funeral prayers and burials in the region. "This is a person who deliberately killed people. There is no room for him as a Muslim. He already left the fold of Islam by doing that. In the Quran it says those who will kill innocent people, they will dwell in the hellfire."

This is all very well, but doesn't the Qur'an also say the faithful are to kill infidels wherever they find them? Then, to a Muslim, any non-Muslim would not be "innocent." Seems like there's a little room there for al taqiyya there.

If the laws of nature where suspended for a moment Hitchens would be rolling over in his grave and flipping the bird at his former employers...
