"The hope of a secure and livable world lies with disciplined nonconformists who are dedicated to justice, peace and brotherhood." ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
Nice to meet you since I too am Jewish and somewhat observant. I, however, am a humanist/agnostic atheist but love the culture and rituals of Judaism. I'm a convert, by the way of my own volition. I find that Reform, Reconstructionists and even some conservatives (Jewish, that is) are not antithetical to humanism and doubt. Carole
So, I'd like to meet you sometime and share some thoughts and feelings.
Thanks for your response, Debbie. I ran many a meeting for a community activist group and recruited many a new member. I restrained myself pretty well in my assessment: I was actually quite shocked at the way the meetup was organized and the way it proceeded from the moment I entered to the moment I left. I was merely looking to meet, mingle, and socialize with people of a like mind: maybe I held unrealistic expectations of what a meetup would be like. My bad. Thanks for considering my input.
