Providing I can, since the date is undetermined. I think I would be incredibly valuable to a theist team, though I am not a traditional Christian.

I would love to be a part of any debate or conversation. As a converted materialist, I have defended and debated against most every common argument for theology - and eventually very novel explorations into neuroscience, philosophy, and quantum physics led me to become spiritual. I believe that the arguments I can now present after 15 years of intense research and debate will be highly unique to even experienced debaters of this topic. I hope that I can meet you all soon. I am a very patient debater, and I am confident I can remain civil under intense scrutiny of my opinions.

Looking forward to it - what are the issues with putting together a meeting?

    • Dan

Life schedule, and procrastination... but yes, I'm going to work on nailing down a date.

I think it would be very easy to find believers. Talk to someone we know in a mega-church - I would go with a conservative one like Xenos... there will be wannabe ministers among the congregation that want to test their evangelical skills, more than we can accomodate....

Thanks for the thought Scott.. I want to get a meeting launched here... but time for everything else gets in the way I guess... no excuse though, I just need to make it happen.

Also, I see you need more "believers" - I can probably function as one in the debates, though on a very fundamental level.

Would love to attend -what is the status of the meeting setup?

Looking forward to actually planning this first meeting after the first of the year... stay with me and please tell your friends... particularly we need Believers who are willing to engage in the conversation.

Hey Jack! All I mean is we need people in the room to whom the debate is important. If we were to debate green peas vs snow peas, I would not show up just to learn some debate tactics, ya know? That being said, I do think the skill of debate(as a subset of the skill of rhetoric) is important, and worthy of study and practice. I am not sure there is a debate format that allows multiple, spontaneous contributions from each "side" without losing the thread? I have seen debate between 4 panelists on each side, where a moderator guides who gets to talk next. One side makes a point (or several) and the moderator chooses the responder from the opposite side, then the reverse occurs. If we allow the rabble in the audience (for example, me) to chime in, there needs to be some guidance from the moderator.

Not always important to find a believer, but to find someone experienced in debate. Debates can be won or lost, but that doesn't mean either side is right, just better at debate. If this debate has an arbitrator and is willing to open the floor to anyone truly willing to take a side ( I know it sounds weird but to a true debater the opposite side of the spectrum may be more of a challenge ) than it should be open to whoever is willing to take the challenge. Set the debate rules, offer the topic and let the games begin!

Most important to find a believer, and have them bring a whole group, 5 to 8 people, with them, from their church..
