so it can be bigger better and more diverce. I personaly encourage anyone who like to think and discuss "deep" thoughts to join, regardless of religious/political belifes. and as "free thinkers" we should rspectfuly agree or disagree with others views. In a civil persute of open discussion and applaud the fact that one is using there mind for more than keeping there hat offd there neck.

If you're completely obnoxious to the point of monopolizing what was conversation until you arrived and then became soliloqy, snag another's chair while she's in the ladies room DESPITE the fact that her dinner had been delivered while she was gone, are looking for women to use to get a green card or are a woman who would like to be used for such, or like to gather in a dark room referred to as "the cellar" while the sun is shining brightly outside. Service was great!

Do you find yourself daily fighting a nagging suspicion that you may be the only person in existence who questions the notion of a cosmic overseer? Would you like some positive evidence to the contrary? Then come on down!

Matt Bailey on Feb 25, 2009.

  • The Atlanta Atheists Meetup Group

Others should join this group because, if you can stand the noise and bar atmosphere, it is a great place to meet many people of different personalities and backgrounds who present/hold very interesting positions about life--and about 21st-Century American culture specifically.

Very nice and interesting crowd! I was only able to talk to those closest to me but that couldn't be helped with the table set-up. As I'm rather shy and this was my first meetup I was happy that the people are very welcoming.

  • The Atlanta Atheists Meetup Group

I never got to talk to cybercat about unofficially making this a freethought meetup too.. So, whadd'ya think? THE PREVIOUS TEXT WAS ALREADY HERE: (MY OPINION)= I feel freethought is a generic term, and the more we use it, the more it proliferates (AFS though is a specific group). I do believe in classical freethought though (where it is inclusive, rather than atheists only). Because we have to ask, do we want an atheists only group, or a more inclusive group that will probably be mostly athesits anyway? I personally believe it is better to include. THANKS FOR STARTING A MEETUP GROUP.. I believe building community is the key to getting equal rights under the law.

Actually only met three people (very few people apparently attended). My guest and myself were the other two attendees - out of the total of five people. So I can't say much about the group as a whole yet.

  • The Atlanta Atheists Meetup Group

I really enjoyed this meetup group. One thing I believe can be done to improve this is involvement in charity projects. If atheists are to defend themselves against attacks about our immority, we should atleast engage in charity projects when trying to defend ourselves rather than just using logical arguments. We have to admit that religious organizations do motivate others to engage in acts of kindness, whereas atheism doesn't give much incentive for that. To draw people towards such groups, we not only need to do charity but to do more good for humankind than religious groups. I also think that universal love should be a paramount goal of this group rather than just debunking religion.

I'm a ditz when it comes to peoples' names. As lame as this sounds, could we have name tags? When you're introduced to eight new faces, it's hard to remember them all.

    Lori on Jan 22, 2006.

  • The Atlanta Atheists Meetup Group

It was rainy, crummy weather, but even though it was a small group, it was still a good group, and several of us were first time attenders, so I'm hoping we can keep this up.
