The Atlanta Atheists Meetup Group Monthly Meetup

  • May 26, 2013 · 4:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Who should come? Are newcomers welcome? Anybody who wants to! Why should people come? To meet fellow atheists/agnostics/freethinkers. Do attendees need to participate or can they just listen? People are welcome to just listen as they like. I am sure everybody will have something to contribute. How will members find you when they get there? Personnel at the brewpub will direct them. We usually meet in the "Cellar" area.

Would like a more organized session that's more topical. I walked in and no one greeted me. It felt odd. I would have liked to have been introduced to everyone.

That is what we do at the AFS meeting on the second Sunday of each month.

How long do the AFS meetings usually run? Anyone know?

The outdoor covered area of Five Seasons is wonderful. Next time we should try meeting there.

Or, if too hot, cold or humid; then main in the main section of the restaurant (not in the echoey corner, nor in the smokers room).. But I agree This last Sunday would have been perfect to sit outside.

My third meet-up with this group, I'm finally seeing familiar faces. That's a good thing, and each meeting I meet new people. That is also a good thing. Occasionally there is some really stimulating conversation with people who aren't trapped in the dogmas that most people carry with them. As always, it's good to have been with all of you.

My 2nd attendance at this venue with this group. Overall found everyone very friendly and open to give and receive opinions on everything from religion to politics (but mostly religion) without anyone getting offended by the opinions of others. Great to converse with open minded, analytical free-thinkers. Will go again.

    MEET LOCATION IN THE RESTAURANT:
Surely there must be support for this?? Can someone please please try to start the seating for the meetups in the large main area of the restaurant.. The corner is to small and noisy. And there are always smokers in the side room. Every time we are in there, there is always someone next to me who also hates cigarette smoke (so my feeling is smoke in unpopular with atheists). And I don't think I've ever seen an atheist smoke (I'm sure there is one somewhere though). So my vote us a hard no to the smoking room.

Molly, Any suggestions? I can think of the Raging Burrito since they have a decent patio area and aren't a proper "bar" but seating inside isn't great for bigger groups (could find out if they will allow one side of the restaurant to be taken over).

    Are you volunteering, Anthony?

Whom ever gets there first, can we start the table away from that horrible noisy corner?

Re dogs: it's a large strip mall.. But there is covered parking (where you can leave the car out if the sun).. But 2h can fly by quick when the talking starts.

Aren't we all sooooh happy that the Pope recognized our existence? Now how about every body else the Catholic church dehumanizes?

Anyone travelling from Alpharetta who could possibly carpool?

Are dogs allowed in the area we are meeting? I know they are allowed in the outdoor area of the restaurant.

What's all this 'false prophets' garbage? If you have a point to make, just come and make it, Mira!

    May 25

  • Mira Ann Sikes

hesitant. wondering if the participants are sincere. i'm just so weary of false prophets (my little humor--very little!), so i take it that there is no third degree?

Just found you on Google. I may or may not come based upon the location ... which I can't find out until I join. And I am already confirmed for coming immediately after joining. hmm ... order of operation much?

Would it be possible to have a meetup that's not in a bar?
