Re: [atheists-93] bus to Reason Rally

Thank you for the email about the trip and discount. Now that I am 80 and for some time prior I am no longer able to take part in such an event....I wish I could. So I guess my purpose in sending this to you is primarily to encourage you to go, since you are on the fence about it.  I am just so sick of seeing and hearing in the current political atmosphere the total submission to religious elements by people who should have the intelligence to know mythology from reality I could scream. So I feel like doing something however slight to try to forward the freethought movement.   When I first became an atheist in 1985 at 55 I naively thought how enlightening this is for me, surely this will all take off like wildfire! At my first meeting in Sept. 1985 at Marjory Schmitt's home in Gwinnett I think there were only 5 people. So, no wildfire but, yes, slow steady progress by a lot of dedicated and passionate people. My best wishes to you, and all my encouragement to you to go. Please feel free to share this with anyone if you think it worthwhile.
Sincerely ,    Norman Sterner, phone[masked] 9980.
