Re: [firefly-236] Donation items for Serenity Screening prize drawings

Myron,

Is it a charity auction or a prize drawing? I was of the understanding it was a charity auction and the items would be bid on by attendees. I don't understand how a prize drawing raises more money.

How will the proceeds be split? I have concerns about using an Equality Now fundraiser that has the nationwide blessing of Universal Studios and begin splitting hairs - not that local charities are not important, but it would seem that our ability to raise more money for Equality Now year after year will be compromised by this - at the same time, this could bring our Atlanta screening under scrutiny by Universal should they frown upon straying from Equality Now.

Let me know.

Thanks,
Michael

Subject: [firefly-236] Donation items for Serenity Screening prize drawings

Hello fellow Browncoats!

The Serenity Screening is creeping closer and closer so I wanted to send out an email asking for donations for our Prize Drawing which takes place right before the screening of Serenity. The ticket prices alone barely cover the cost of renting the Theater and the 35mm print of the film, so our Prize Drawing is a huge portion of the proceeds that will go to our charities. This year we have the national charity Equality Now and locally we're supporting the Atlanta Community Food Bank. These items can be anything from the Whedonverse, be it Firefly, Serenity, Buffy, Angel, Dollhouse or Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog.

These items can be brought to our monthly Meetup or I can arrange to pick them up from you if you can't make it to the Meetup. Please email me through this site if you have any questions.

Thanks for everyone's continued support for this worthwhile event.

Stay shiny,
Myron
