Ten years ago, something Shiny happened

Fellow Browncoats,

On September 20th, 2002, on a network that just did not believe, an offbeat show that could be described as a space-western with outlaws as the heroes premiered and something Shiny happened. There was little promotion or fanfare. A few of us were lucky enough to see this memorable creation air on network TV for the first time, but many were forced to see the series shown out of order, confusing and frustrating fans. Since that point, most of us have been lucky enough to have seen the series in order, with the release of the DVD box set. No matter what, we knew something good was happening.

This September 30th, come celebrate Joss Whedon's Firefly in all its Shininess with a chance to once again watch Serenity on the Big Damn Screen. This year we are having an auction, prize drawing, live entertainment, and a costume contest.

Tickets
Friday, Sept. 28th will be the last day to buy tickets online. To buy your ticket online, make sure to visit us before the deadline to ensure your seat will be waiting for you.: http://www.atlantabro...

If you cannot buy your tickets in advance, tickets will be available for purchase in the Lobby of the Plaza Theatre the day of the Screening. For those who have purchased in advance, be aware that you will not receive paper tickets in advance. You will instead need to go to the Will Call table when it opens at 5:30 PM to get your ticket and prize drawing ticket, etc.

We will be holding the prize drawing prior to showing the movie, so get there early. Will call/tickets sales start at 5:30PM. Movie starts at 7PM.

Prize donations
We have lots of great stuff ready for the prize drawing, but are always on the lookout for something extra special. If you are donating something and I don't have it yet, please bring it to the Screening by 5:15 PM, or e-mail me to set up an alternate time to meet and collect the items. If you have anything you want to contribute, or you know of a business that wants to offer anything, please contact us. It is helpful if we know what the item is, who should be credited, and the suggested retail value of the donation.

Prize Drawing - Each attendee will get a ticket for the prize drawing with a Screening ticket purchase. In addition, you will get 1 ticket for every non-perishable food item you bring. Inside the theater, we will have the prize drawing items on display, with jars in front of each item. You put your ticket in whichever jar is adjacent to the item you're interested in competing to win. Extra tickets will be $1 each or 5 for $3. That way, if there's one item you really want, you have an opportunity to load those tickets up in that jar!

Want even more options for helping? We have a handy link for that too ;-) http://www.atlantabrowncoats.com/more/index.cfm?Fuseaction=more_6591

Volunteers
Interested in getting involved? We need people to help out with a variety of tasks that help make this event a success each and every year. These tasks include everything from selling tickets and merchandise to collecting food donations to helping set up and break down everything that's needed to put on the show. Volunteers are needed before the show, at approximately 5 PM, as well as at the conclusion of the show. If you're interested in lending a helping hand, a smile, and your talents, please e-mail or sign up on our Facebook volunteer event page: https://www.facebook.com/messages/525567511#!/events/281941938587479/

Thanks!

We want to give a Big Thanks to everyone who has purchased tickets already, offered donations in the form of prizes and cash contribution towards the charities, and for spreading the signal.
