Atlanta is full of interesting cuisines and I just love learning about them. You can learn so much about a culture when you start with their food--everybody eats. I’m not an expert, but I am gathering knowledge and having a LOT of fun. Want to join me?
I am the Atlanta Ethnic Foods and Restaurant writer for Examiner.com. I write about where I go and what I'm eating, so I need to regularly check out new ethnic restaurants, food courts, festivals and markets. It's more fun if you come along too!

My plan is to visit one new place most Fridays, typically at 6:30pm. No waiting list. No "maybe" option. I’ll post the event a week to two before and freeze the RSVPs the evening before. I know that isn’t the best day/time/rules for everyone, so if it doesn't work with your plans, no hard feelings. That said, don't sign up if you can't come. Groups will usually be small since the restaurants are small. I'll rotate through several cuisines, everyone pays for their own dinner. I plan to take photos of everyone and particularly the food, which I will use in my on-line articles and post on meet up too. Please share your input as to the food, prices, décor and service. If you are very shy, or very private, this may not be the group for you. IF THE CUISINE IS A SPECIALITY OF YOURs OR YOU ARE A NATIVE OF THAT COUNTRY, PLEASE HELP US ORDER AND UNDERSTAND WHAT WE ARE EATING. Remember I'm here to learn!
And let me say that I learned most of what I know about ethnic foods in Mary's Buford Highway Global Cuisines group. She is amazing. You should join, if you aren't already a member.
For more detailed rules, see the About page, but in short: If you RSVP "yes" then show up on time. If you are a “no-show” or cancel the day of the event three times, you're out.
For those who aren't away Thanksgiving weekend and want to do something that doesn't involve turkey or shopping, let's meet at the Chinatown Square food court (right by the Chamblee Marta Station). Read more
