Music From the Era Of Downton Abbey

I'm not sure I'll be attending this; if I don't, I will need someone to volunteer to be a host and just stand with a Meetup sign at the entrance to the chapel.

Many thanks to Julie for suggesting this.  It sounds like it will be wonderful.

THE ATLANTA HARP ENSEMBLE:

Music from the Era of Downton Abbey

Tuesday, September 24, 2013

7:30 PM - Kellett Chapel

The Atlanta Harp Center (AHC) Harp Ensemble was started in 2012 with the goal of providing an opportunity for harpists to get together in the evening and make music in a convivial atmosphere. So many accomplished, professional, players were interested in joining the group that the AHC Harp Ensemble offers something rare and exciting--the full sound of SIX HARPS, expertly played, in beautiful harmony.

Their fall concert, Café Society, features music that evokes that wonderful era between the world wars, featured in the popular PBS Series, Downton Abbey, when the social classes mixed and musical styles converged.

Please join us and hear the harp like you've never heard it before! This concert is FREE and open to the public.

It was beautiful. It lifted me up and took me away.

It was a wonderful experience; the program was well planned and executed and I think we were all amazed at the beauty and precision. I particularly loved that there were solos interspersed and that the musicians spoke to us very casually and provided an opportunity at the end for people to ask questions and examine the harps. Great company (enjoyed meeting Ken, Marcia and Sue) and great venue! Ken, thanks for taking the pictures.

It was very nice to meet everyone. I had a great time. The nine-harp-ensemble was absolutely wonderful. Rare sight indeed.

Ken, thanks so much for hosting--and for those who showed up tonight. I'm much encouraged. All it takes is a few good people!

Thank you Ellen. I just did what I can for the group. Everyone was on time and we even had time for a little chat before the event started.

I'll be in front of Kellett Chapel with a sign around 7:00. If you are early, please wait there. We'll go in at 7:15 (for better seats) if everyone makes it on time, but no later than 7:30. See you there!

Look for Ken with a Meetup sign in the lobby at 7:15. Thanks, Ken.

Darn, this sounds like it would be good & I live close to the church so could get there easily after work. But I have another committment that night.

Sorry I can't attend. I have rehearsal that night.

Ellen, I can hold the sign if you are not attending this event but it'll only be a black and white meetup sign since I have no access to a color printer.
