Since some of you are also jazz enthusiasts as well as classic music appreciators, I am posting this event.
T. Woods, Atlanta-based jazz pianist/composer, whose original music has been broadcast in the US and abroad and has been used extensively on The Weather Channel, is celebrating the release of another recording of all-original instrumental jazz at 800 East Studios in Atlanta.
Mark the date, bring your friends - let's have a great afternoon of music on Sunday, Oct 23rd. Please note the time change. Doors will open at 4:30. The music will start around 5:15 and probably will go until 7:30.
I attended his May 15th CD release of 'Conversations' and had a blast.
This concert/live recording session will feature the quintet as well as guest jazz vocalists Rita Graham and Jeni Michelson. All of these instrumentalists and vocalists are top talents in the Atlanta area. They will be performing selections from all T. Woods recordings as well as other jazz favorites. Here are two selections that showcase his talent and range:
And his guests vocalists:
Music from his first two recordings has been broadcast in the USA and abroad and has been used extensively on The Weather Channel.
Featuring several solo piano pieces and acoustic performances, 'Songs of Time & Place' is somewhat different from the very popular 'Just in Time' and 'Conversations' - but of course it includes several ensemble pieces as well.
Entrance to this event is only $10 (at the door) and includes a wine/hors d' oeuvres reception immediately following.
However, if you would like to bring a bottle of your favorite wine to share, that would be accepted and appreciated.
Of course, copies of all three recordings will be available at a discount to all attendees.
To find the studio, go to the website - 800east.com - the locate tab provides an accurate map - other search engines often do not. We are on the south side of Freedom Parkway at the dead end of Alaska (which becomes East Ave.) accessible off Highland.
