Atlanta Node.js April Meeting

We have another great meeting for you this month!

Travis Brown will present:

Creating Modular, RESTful Web Services Using Express

Express is a powerful and flexible web application framework for node. Using the middleware and routing functions of Express, we can create a simple, logical, and secure structure of web services that is easy to maintain and grow.

Travis Brown is a Sr. Software Engineer at where he designs, writes, and manages a node.js and MongoDB stack on AWS.

Nigel Alford will present:

Building a web scraper for use in future projects.

This talk dives into the process of building a simple node.js web scraper. The web scraper lives as an independent npm module capable of reading a web address, parsing an array of file endings, calling an extensive list of web address and downloading each page to unique files and folder on the user’s local machine. For repeatability, the finalized product is published to npm for use in future projects.

Podcast host, writer, and javascript project lead are a few the titles given to Nigel Alford. He self-taught developer, who began his computing career traversing ms-dos commands as an Atlanta youth. Currently, Nigel fills his days at Norfolk Southern as a GIS web developer, he is leading his team into fulltime javascript based application development. Node.js has become an indispensable tool in his daily development tasks, and he regularly works with the Enterprise Architecture team to improve the company technology usage.

As per standard protocol, we will meet at Cyprus Pint & Plate afterwards for drinks, dinner, and socialization.

Hope to see you there!
