Atlanta Nodejs Developers Message Board › Atlanta Node.js Meeting tomorrow night!

Atlanta Node.js Meeting tomorrow night!

Joseph D.

  • We have some exciting stuff for you tomorrow night!
Asaf Ebgi will be presenting some JavaScript Basics
He will lead a discussion of Javascript closures, hoisting, and context binding with call, apply, and bind for method and function reuse.
Asaf has an electrical engineering background, though he mostly does software. He thinks Javascript is a pretty amazing language with unique features, the most expressive language he's worked with -- He works full time at Turner Broadcasting doing single-page Javascript front end work in Angular -- Before Turner he worked briefly at an ad agency named MRY doing a lot of ExtJs front-end work, and before that at a company named Ciena working on device drivers in C++. Day-to-day he uses Node mainly for project maintenance, mostly via Grunt, though he's explored a lot of Node's internals.

Chris Barnes will present deployment with Meteor.js
Chris will run through a quick introduction to meteor and build an example app to show off the realtime reactive model that makes meteor super cool. Then he’ll run through some of the strengths and weaknesses that he came across having deployed several applications based on meteor.
Chris started DANIEL about 3 years ago after working at several interactive agencies in the ATL. He loves coding the whole stack. Currently, he's mostly interested in finding the perfect web-stack and iOS programming. DANIEL is 4 full-stack developers.  They do a lot of startup work and have a couple of apps as personal projects out there.
    WAIT!  There's more!!!
IDR will provide pizza and beer!
Matt Jones of IDR (Internal Data Resources, Inc) wants to provide food and drinks to the group and have some social time.  We will begin the meeting with 15-20 minutes of eating, drinking, and socialization.  If you are looking for a full-time node opportunity, you may want to link up with Matt during this time.

Hope to see you all tomorrow!
