Garden Lights Meetup at Atlanta Botanical Gardens

Always a treat, the annual Atlanta Botanical Gardens Garden Lights exhibit is the perfect place to meetup and practice a little low light and long exposure night photography. Come join us on Tuesday, December 10th, from 5:45p to 9:00p, and experience the amazing display of over a million lights decorated throughout the gardens.

Please bring your camera, tripod, fresh batteries (extras if possible), memory cards, filters, and remote switches. Entrance for adults is $17.00 without membership, $14 with. Parking is extra. Guests are encouraged. You may find out more info and purchase your tickets by visiting the link below. Please be sure to register for the 10th and bring your ticket(s) and valid ID with you.

I'll be sending out another email with final details just before the meetup. If you should have any questions beforehand you may email me at [masked]. I look forward to seeing you there!

Cold night and traffic a little more challenging but another enjoyable visit to the Gardens. This is a perfect spot to take some really interesting night photos. Many thanks again to Dean for coordinating this Meetup. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!

Made it, too, but late because of traffic. Hoping to bump some others that are it.

Dang. We stood around until 6:35 or after and decided to go on in. I had no idea anyone else came after that. Hope to see you all next time!

In in the past, Dean gathered everyone just out front from the main entrance. I believe it was near where you can purchase tickets. I am sure a few folks toting some expensive photo gear will draw a small crowd. :) I'll look for your purple fleece.

Mike, can you suggest a place to meet? I will be in a dark purple fleece and fuschia cap/ear warmers (looks like it will be windy and cold!)

It's a real shame Dean can't join us but this is a great event for those that have not experienced it. I plan on going and more than happy to help others that have not photographed in this environment, i.e. very dark surroundings but vibrant lighted subjects. I am not a pro but have learned a lot from Dean's classes and prior Meetups. I know he'd be pleased to know that all that could make it will still come and learn from others. I'll be in a brown fleece toting a Canon 40D and tripod. Hope I can meet everyone that can make it.

I plan on going tonight and would enjoy some company walking through the displays and photographing. Barbara, I can help you some...although I see that according to your profile you shoot with an Olympus and I'm a Canon shooter, but I can share/suggest settings and help you some.

Also, it's been a LONG time since I've been to the Gardens and I've NEVER been for the Christmas display, so I have no idea where to meet, so if others could suggest a meeting place that would be great.

In light of Dean being sick and I already having my tickets would someone be willing to meet me there and help me with the photos, as I am real novice at this kind of photography?

    Where are we to meet?
