Garden Lights at Atlanta Botanical Gardens

What better way to end the holiday season and start the New Year than by photographing the beauty of the 2nd annual Garden Lights display at Atlanta Botanical Gardens!

We will meet at the garden entrance, across from the parking deck ($5 fee), at 5p while there is still a little light (sunset is 5:40p). There are a limited number of tickets available each night and even though this evening is considered a non-peak evening, I suggest purchasing your ticket ahead of time here. https://tickets.atlantabotanicalgarden.org/.

This meetup is open to all members and family and friends are welcome to come. Along with your camera, lenses, and memory cards, please bring your tripod, fresh batteries, and remote triggers.

If you have any questions beforehand, please contact me at [masked].

I look forward to seeing you there!

Regards,
Dean

Dean, thank you SO much for the opportunity to get out and shoot at night...the lights were wonderful, the company also. Haven't yet had time to get them downloaded...will see what lies in there as soon as I have some time!!

Wonderful opportunity to shoot and learn. Was interesting that I was able to remember where most of my camera controls were in the dark. Thanks, Dean, for taking the time and interest in us.

Only thing that could have been better was for it to be warm! But it's January, after all!

I'm excited, but unfortunately, I have to work tonight, and can't get off. I am looking forward to everyone's notes. Prayerfully, I will be able to attend the next one.

    Hi Laura,

I would suggest setting ISO 400, F/22 @ 30 sec. in the Manual mode. This should yield pretty good exposures for most scenes while keeping the sky relatively dark. I'll have more tips when we arrive.

    Best,
    Dean
