What do you hope to get from joining this group?

Community involvement, and learning!

What is your primary role? UX-er? Designer? Developer? Something else?

Developer and community activist. I co-founded the very popular meetup in 2008. Thanks to many great volunteers and their effort, the group now has almost 3,000 members, and meets every month at Manuel's Tavern. Last night, I was just there and was scratching my head thinking, "There has to be something we can do in Atlanta for users, designers and developers like this." At VersionOne, we moved into a great space off Glen Iris and North Avenue that we have used for community events, and we'd like to host there. If the events are run as collaborations, not just lectures, then our space should be great for this! We have two floors, with lots of private rooms upstairs, a conference room, and downstairs we have lots of Standing Geek Desks, and plenty of "whitewall" space and more. I'll post some pictures soon...

I work with a company in downtown Atlanta called We'd like to offer space for the Dojo / Hackathons in our Glen Iris / North Avenue location. We could travel to Manuel's Tavern after the events :)
