I dove headfirst into screenwriting after waking up one night with an idea in November 2011. Since then, I've dedicated countless hours to turning that idea into a feature screenplay, learning as I go. At this point I feel I have a good grasp on the fundamentals of screenwriting. Now I'm just ready to put a bow on this one, see if it can go anywhere, and then start on the next one. I have a totally unrelated day-job related to software design. I'm also an amateur musician and photographer.
I've loved movies since I was little kid, particularly intelligent sci-fi and speculative fiction. And, I've always said I'd like to get into movie business but never made it happen, until now. I suffer under no illusions and know the odds are beyond slim. But I'm having fun along the way anyway!
I founded Atlanta Screenwriters Anonymous, a meetup for other amateur screenwriters like me. Since our groups have overlapping goals, Dennis and I are talking about ways we can work together. Our group plans to do table reads of member works.
Great energy last night! I'll echo Michael's comment and say the group has lots of potential. Looking forward to seeing it grow!
