You'll get invited to our Meetups as soon as they're scheduled!
You are invited to a special celebration being hosted by the Women of
FIRE. On Saturday, April 4th we will honor women leaders at the 1st Annual
Women's Empowerment Awards and Dinner Ceremony.
The Empowerment Dinner will be held at the Bill Moore Student Success
Center on the Campus of Georgia Tech. The cocktail reception begins at
7:00 PM and the dinner and awards ceremony at 8:00 PM, with the evening
concluding at 10:00 PM.
The Women of FIRE Inc. was created in 2002, and we've seen many
organizations come and go in the past 7 years. We believe we're still a
viable resource in part due to the many wonderful people who've nurtured
us along the way. This is our opportunity to say thank you and recognize a
few of these people. We will honor 5 dynamic women on April 4th:
1. Pres. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, who was one of our initial donors, prior
to becoming President of Liberia. She responded to a donation letter
through Measuagoon, a rural development organization she founded in her
ancestral village of Kormah in 1997.
2. Mrs. Vida Barrett, who has served as a spiritual mentor to the Women of
FIRE,
3. Ms. Sadia Kennedy of Bethel World Outreach Ministries, who is an
excellent example of religious leadership in the Liberian community,
4. Ms. Maimah Karmo, founder of TigerLily Foundation, who is a beacon of
hope for anyone who has or is a survivor of breast cancer and
5. Ms. Rosetta Reeves, a former Ms. Liberia Georgia who has created a
non-profit organization to respond to the needs of primary school children
in Liberia.
We hope you will join us and honor these women. If you are unable to
attend, please consider an admissions donation towards the "Big
Sister-Small Sister" Mentorship Program, a Women of FIRE, outreach and
mentorship program for newly immigrated Liberian girls and young women
ages 14-31.
