Thank you for throwing me a birthday party! It was fun and the idea of a birthday party was inspired!!! I really enjoyed the white elephant game, too.

This was lots and lots of fun. I won't be able to make the August one b/c I'm hosting an event that night but I've planned ahead and signed up for the September one. :)

OK, exactly how many folks are planning to bring cake? I can bring a Texas sheet cake--big, rich, and dark (that is, CHOCOLATE), or I can bring a side dish if there is plenty of cake already.

My watermelon morphed into mac and cheese. Thought it might make a better side dish.

For anyone who is not subscribed for emails, here is a message I sent out today (edited for brevity):

This is a reminder for anyone coming to Saturday's Games Night, we are planning to have a birthday gift exchange game, in keeping with the birthday theme. It will be a white elephant game, like people like to play at Christmas. Anyone who wants to participate, please bring a gift to exchange, wrapped like you are giving it to a friend. Gifts should not be expensive, less than $5 would be best, or anything that you already have that you would like to re-gift. Be creative! Gag gifts are fun. We can clarify the rules when everyone gets here.

If you do not wish to participate in the game, that is okay. Do not feel obligated to get something. We will have the regular board and party games going on as well.

I'm sorry, but I won't be able to make it this time.

Hey guys :) I just joined. I'd love to bring my hubby and kiddos (girl age 8 and boy age 5) but I'd hate to be the only one doing so. LOL I can always leave them at home and come alone too! Are there gonna be other kids there? Hubby & I like board games but are also big geeks and love roleplaying games as well. He could run one if anyone is interested in rolling some dice.

We have an 11 yr old. When events are at our house you are welcome to bring the kids. Because Joshua is older, you might want to bring activities that are age appropriate. We have a Wii, Xbox, and several child friendly board games.

Hey! Can you give me an idea of what types of games you play, maybe 2-3 examples? Sounds like a fun group. :) Thanks!

Hi Cheryl, Welcome to Atlanta Games Night!! We play a variety of games, mostly board and party games. We have a collection and we encourage people to bring games they like, to share. I hope this clarifies things for you, and we look forward to meeting you.

And I have been wanting to play Apple to Apples. Appreciate the insight. We'll have to make plans to come some time this summer. Thanks!

I am going to follow Mary Anne's lead and bring something other than cake.

    June 21, 2013

  • Mary Anne B.

I like the idea of a birthday theme. Sounds like we will have plenty of cake so I will bring my Greek pasta salad

    June 19, 2013

Sorry Rubin! I would love to come but have Vertigo. I am also allergic to cats. Ya'll have fun!

I could bring Cherry Chip cupcakes with Cherry Chip frosting!!! (I have a lot of the cherry chip cake mixes!!! And it is my fav birthday flavor)

    1 · June 11, 2013

I have an idea -- What if we make it a "birthday" celebration for everyone who has a birthday? We could play a white elephant birthday gift exchange. Everyone bring a gift, it can be a gag gift (think Dollar Store -- please no more than $5) and we can play it like they do at Christmas. If you have never done this, please e-mail me and I can explain with more details.

Can someone please bring a cake? Everything else is like usual -- potluck at 6; games start at 7. We will have all of our usual board and party games available and everyone is welcomed and encouraged to bring and share any games you enjoy.

We look forward to seeing everyone on July 6!!!

Like I said, since so many people have birthdays that month, yourself included, how about a birthday-themed party? Or an American themed party for the 4th of July??? Just sayin'.
