How does a custom built meet-up experience created by you and 5 other Metro Atlanta Geeks sound?

Here's how it'll work:

1. RSVP here.

2. Once six people have RSVP'd (not including myself - Johnny - I'm just a facilitator), you'll work together using the comments section of each meetup to create an event of your place, time and choosing. (Board game night, dinner and a movie, or whatever you agree to do.)

3. Have an Awesome Party of Six!

Notes.

- Must be 21 or older to participate.

- Cost to participate is $1.00 per person.

- RSVPs of you plus one will be $2.00 and I'll ideally group you with others who have plus oned.  This will allow couples or friends to attend these together.

- No refunds as your level of enjoyment will be solely based on your participation to make your team's event great will be entirely up to your collective imaginations and interests.

Thank you, Amy. Should be better going inside the stadium, but kind of bittersweet since I haven't been to Centennial Park in a while.

Oh, I may have my daughter this weekend (her dad is out of town) is it okay if she tags along? She's 14.

      1 · March 25, 2014

    • Amy

Should be fine. We are going to a family friendly place.

      March 25, 2014

  • Joshua

Thanks, Amy. Hopefully, I can get enough to go the Gala. I should be available all-day Saturday if I don't have to work.

Here's what Joystick said about parking: If you arrive earlier in the day or early evening you should find parking spaces on Edgewood itself. Please be sure to pay the meter. Park Atlanta is always looking to give out tickets. After 7pm the parking is free at the meters. There is also plenty of parking along Chamberlain, which is one short block south of Edgewood. If for some reason that is full you will keep finding streets south of there. It's an easy walk to Joystick from this area. And although it is safe to park don't leave valuable items in clear view. It's safe but we recommend not giving anyone needless temptations.

Ok, I think I have an idea for what to wear, just wish I had some goggles to go with it. :)
And are we still throwing ideas for what to do or have we already decided to go the festival or somewhere else?

    March 23, 2014

    • Amy

Everyone liked the Festival, but feel free to make suggestions. I have some plain black goggles you can use.

      March 23, 2014

  • Joshua

Is any costume allowed or is there a certain theme going on?

    March 22, 2014

    • Amy

It's steampunk themed, but you can steampunk anything.

      March 23, 2014

  • Amy

Is anyone going to Gaslamp Gala? It starts 7 in Decatur, also on the 29th.

    March 21, 2014

    • Luis

What exactly is the Gaslamp Gala?

      March 22, 2014

    • Amy

It's a steampunk party hosted by the Artifice Club. A friend of mine is working it.

      March 22, 2014

  • Joshua

If i'm not working late that day, I may go. The costume I ordered last month is coming this Tuesday so i'll have an excuse to use it. :)

I think weekends are best for most but thought I'd throw Nerd Nite No 7 out there. This Thurs nt. Nerd Nite No. 7: Beats, Bikes & Tunes
Smoke Ring BBQ, 309 Nelson St. (Castleberry Hill)
Time to get your spiffiest Carl Sagan t-shirt starched: it's time for another Nerd Night. This go-round, the crew will be addressing three topics that may or may not have been plaguing your subconscious: what makes a song become popular? what's the future of my Schwinn? why do some people wear socks with sandals? (Well, maybe not that last one, but… you'll just have to go and find out for yourself.)

    1 · March 18, 2014

    • Lisa W.

No it's usually once every month or two

      March 19, 2014

    • Amy

Sounds fun. I already have something tonight, but may can go next time? What about everyone else?

Yeah that science expo sounds good.

      1 · March 16, 2014

  • Belinda C.

I was just looking at the list of events for the Science festival and I want to go to all of them! :)
The Expo on Saturday looks like a lot of fun! I usually do homework on the weekends, but I can get it done early to have whatever day we pick free for MAG fun!

    1 · March 15, 2014

  • Amy

Here are details on Science Festival: http://atlantasciencefestival.org/ Maybe the Expo on the 29th? Joystick Gamebar: http://www.joystickgamebar.com

Will post other items later and then we can pick. How do next couple weekends look time wise?

    March 15, 2014

  • Johnny

Amy has graciously agreed to serve as the host for the first MAG Party of Six! Hope you all have a wonderful time. Look forward to seeing what you all do. Have fun!

    1 · March 15, 2014

  • Joshua

The weekend would be best for me, also. The joystick and festival sound really good, too. :)

    1 · March 15, 2014

  • Lisa W.

Joystick sounds fun. There is also what sounds like a great exhibit at the Museum of Modern Design called the "Genius of Everyday Things". Fern bank has Whales of the Deep going on. The tulips are just about in bloom at the Botanical Gardens. Atlanta is so much fun! And of course the Science Festival next weekend

    1 · March 15, 2014

    • Amy

All sound fun! And I love a festival

      March 15, 2014

  • Amy

Weekends are best for me too.

    March 15, 2014

  • Belinda C.

I'm good with just about anything. Weekends work better for me, but I'm flexible if weekdays/nights work best for everyone else, plus I'm already downtown for work. Joystick Gamebar sounds fun -- I haven't played those classic games since they were new! :)
What's the parking sitch like there?

    1 · March 14, 2014

    • Amy

No idea on parking. I've been wanting to check it out.

      March 15, 2014

  • Luis

Yeah i don't really know atlanta that well, so i'll leave it up to you guys on where to meet at. Something on the weekends would be preferred.

    March 15, 2014

  • Amy

Up for most anything. I've been wanting to go to Joystick Gamebar. I have a couple vouchers for Sweetwater Brewery tour. Think it's $10 for tasting. I also want to do the High Road IceCream Factory tour, which I believe is free, or the Walking Dead tour in Grantville.

    March 14, 2014

  • Lisa W.

    Any ideas going around?

    1 · March 14, 2014

    • Johnny

You guys feel free to go ahead and start the dialogue about what you want to do. If no one else RSVPs by Saturday night, I'll change the description to be a "Party of Five". :-)

Thanks for trying out this new concept for a smaller event!

      March 14, 2014

  • Barbara G.

I like going to interesting places around the city and having fun and it do not have to expensive.
