Faster than C? Parsing Node.js Streams! by Felix Geisendoerfer

This is a special joint meetup with the HTML5 Group and AJUG (ajug.org)! AJUG is kindly paying for the hotel conference room (their usual meetup spot), so big thanks to @ghillert, @vincentmayers and co.

Get there around 6:30 and the presentation will begin a 7pm sharp. We'll also be going for a drinkup afterwards (sponsored by Anteo Group) at a nearby watering hole for anyone that wants to come, hangout, and harass Felix on his use of JavaScript :) jk - no harassment.

About the talk

In 2010 I wrote the first MySQL driver for node.js. I did it in pure JavaScript. It was fast. It was fun.
A few month later, node addons using libmysql showed up in npm. They were much faster. It sucked.
In 2012 I had enough and went back to to the drawing board resulting in a much faster parser.
This talk will introduce you to the art of high performance work in JavaScript.

Bio: Felix Geisendörfer - a former ATL.JS speaker - is a programmer and entrepreneur living in Berlin. He was one of the first users and core contributors of node.js, and has used it to start a business, implement the MySQL wire protocol, and program flying robots. His latest passion is Go, which he is currently using to build new file uploading software at transloadit.
