Javascript Modern Tooling

Talk: Pulling it all together: Modern Tooling

This talk is the result of all the great tools we have available to us for creating great javascript applications. Josh will demonstrate an array of javascript libraries and services in quick succession and create and publish a cloud ready app from scratch. This will hopefully be inspirational for beginner to intermediate developers that haven't seen rapid development of a fullstack javascript app. Technologies that will be touched on: webstorm, webstorm templates, webstorm debugging, chrome debugging, npm, node.js, Jade templating, twitter bootstrap, Appfog, and AWS. Should a whirlwind of fun!

Speaker: Joshua Lunsford

12 years of PHP, .NET, and Javascript developer experience. Currently a .NET/SCCM Consultant for The Home Depot, previously Infrastructure Architect for Ed Financial. But most importantly, a passionate javascript developer working with WebGL projects for the coming generation of 3D browser apps.

Very interesting presentation of the WebStorm IDE and automation of Node.js application setup. I am wondering how many people in the group are using Node.js. Can we setup a poll of members on the website?

Right under the building. I think it's six bucks. Section 14 in the south part of the deck is right at the building.

Spoiler Alert! I have finished my demo app that I created just for this presentation. We will touch on crafting and debugging with WebStorm, deploying with Appfog, a touch MongoDB, a splash of WebRTC, and most importantly ALL JavaScript! Can't wait to geek out with everyone next week!

What are some of the tools you will be going over? Thanks,

    April 3, 2013

    • Joshua L.

I'll be driving Webstorm 6's rich feature set. I'll demo live edit, 'intellisense', node.js debugging, build tasks, and templating. This case study if you will, is all in the name of rapid prototyping and managing your workflow. Plan to show off Appfog's wonderful interface as well.
