Tree Climbing & Dinner!

Did you enjoy climbing trees when you were a kid?  Then come relive that carefree, childhood experience as an adult!  The kids can come along too as this rope climbing technique is great for all ages.

Join us for a fun afternoon of tree climbing (and hanging around)!  This is an introductory tree climbing event and is open to the public.  No experience is necessary. All equipment is supplied; all you'll need is loose clothing (T-shirt and long pants recommended), light shoes with strong arch (closed-toe only), and some extra energy.

When you arrive, the instructor(s) will have all the ropes looped and tied over the branches. They will demonstrate how to move the knots in sequence, how to tie a safety knot, and how to descend safely. Then, all you'll have to do is slip into a harness and helmet and up you'll go!  Once aloft, you'll be able to get to those first few branches and "hang out" with no trouble at all!

There have been only a small number of first-time climbers who couldn't get up into the tree so take a chance and do something different!  Basic climbing skills will be the focus of this event.

This is a kid friendly event!  Kids must be at least 5 years old to climb!

Time: 2:00-5:00pm.

Cost: $25 per person (please bring cash) which covers the set up and take down of the event, the instruction, the use of the equipment, and the climb.

Required Items: Long hair tied back and strap for loose glasses (+ see above) & water.

Recommended Items: Camera, snacks (pack in/pack out)

Rating: Easy - Moderate

After the climb, we'll head over to Blue Moon Pizza (5610 Glenridge Drive, Sandy Springs, GA 30342) for dinner.

No, you use your legs more than your arms. It's mainly a leg workout.

Do we need a lot of upper body strength to do this? What is the pulley ration?

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
