Kayaking, backpacking, and camping with others of like mind. I love learning about the geology of an area before visiting it.
Climbing out of the Grand Canyon on the Bright Angel Trail. Although I'm more a kayaker than a backpacker, it was the formations and history of the place that grabbed me even more than the big waters of the Colorado River.
I went white water kayaking in an area with Class IV rapids. I was unfamiliar with the area and no one knew where I was. 'Twas stupid. Also, backpacking alone, though I much prefer backpacking with others.
Kayaking alone in the early morning, experiencing the yin of the ripples created by the bow of my boat as it cuts through the water, hearing the water drip from my paddle with each new stroke.
I'm 62, female, and a retired research psychologist. I'm also a retired massage therapist. I enjoy doing stained glass and carpentry. I love fall, winter, and spring outdoor events. Summer is frequently too hot for me.
Loved the people, loved Sawnee Mtn., and loved the hike. I would so enjoy hiking with these same folks again!
Welcome to Amazing Women Explorers! We are glad you found us and look forward to meeting you soon.
I also live in Alpharetta close to Milton. My car can accommodate 2 kayaks if you would like to carpool. I am not familiar with the Canton area so having someone else would be helpful.
