Interested in real food and nutrition? Want to find local sources of sustainably produced, wholesome foods? We are here to share knowledge and support as we teach each other about traditional, nutrient-dense foods -- and discover practical ways to include more of them in our diet and lifestyle.
Fundamental to this group are the principles taught by the Weston A. Price Foundation, which advocates a return to natural, whole foods prepared in traditional ways according to the wisdom of our ancestors. You can learn more about the Weston A. Price Foundation and the nutritional principles they teach at www.westonaprice.org. Through seminars, workshops, potlucks, and other get-togethers, we share the benefits of living by these principles, and support each other in the learning process.
Please note that this group is not vegetarian or vegan in orientation. The Weston A. Price Foundation teaches the importance and value of animal foods in the diet, including muscle meats, organ meats, bones, and skin -- as well as high quality milk and eggs. We emphasize the importance of sourcing animal foods from pasture-centered farms, recognizing the value of better living conditions for the health of the animal, which translates to more nutritious products for us, as well as positive effects on the environment. We also value organically grown vegetables and other plant foods as integral parts of a nutritious diet. For a short overview of the WAPF dietary approach, please visit:
A primary objective of the group is to help people find local farms, food co-ops, and other quality sources of nutrient-dense foods. Resource lists and contact information is provided in our Pages. If you would like to join our group, please tell us something about yourself and your interest in real foods and nutrition. We hope to build a positive, supportive community of advocates for real food in the Atlanta area and beyond.
