And we're back
Only a few days late for Newtonmas 2013 - Sir Isaac's birthday is the 25th - the Atlanta Science Tavern Science Trivia Challenge is making a return. Please join us for this fifth installment of our insanely popular team trivia competition. The questions themselves are entertaining, and the musical interludes, selected by Don MacGregor, make the evening even more fun.

The competition will consist of 2 halves consisting of 8 questions each. Unlike conventional team trivia, all of the questions are multiple-part questions of varying degrees of difficulty. This gives every team an opportunity to participate in every question, while allowing those with special expertise to distinguish themselves. See this FAQ for details.

The best way to get an idea of what the Science Trivia Challenge is about is to take a look at the slide show from our last go-round in July.

Prizes will be awarded in the form of Manuel's gift certificates as follows:

• $50 - 1st place

• $30 - 2nd place

• $20 - 3rd place

Student teams are very welcome. We encourage people with special expertise to mix it up to help keep the teams balanced.

Thanks Marc, scorekeepers, and everyone. I lucked into sitting at a table with very smart people who comprised the winning team. I had a lot of fun and am looking forward to the next one!

One of the year's highlights for me!
Science trivia isn't trivial, it's important!

I had tons of fun. Our team consisted of a whole table of non-scientists but we still did quite well. Everyone contributed something. Thanks again to Marc for designing and illustrating a very interesting assortment of questions and to Don for keeping our ears entertained in the process!

Fun event. A mix of very tough and relatively easy questions kept it interesting for all.

I just want to thank the Princesses for arriving late and not participating in several questions. Your lower score kept my team from last place. :)

Yes, Alisa! We still could use some help scoring. Send me an email at [masked] so that I can put you on my volunteer list. Thanks, Marc

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
