Watch "Contagion" with CDC's Experts at the Atlanta Science Festival

With every new flu strain we are reminded that a life-threatening disease could spread across the globe in a matter of days. What role would Atlanta's Centers for Disease Control and Prevention play in this kind of public health crisis? Steven Soderbergh's riveting "Contagion" imagines the unfolding of such a deadly pandemic and our response to it.

Even if you've seen this critically-acclaimed medical action-thriller before, here's your chance to see it again, this time with a panel of CDC's experts in emerging infectious diseases and emergency operations who will lead a discussion after the screening.

The panel will be moderated by, Harold Jaffe, Associate Director for Science at the CDC and an internationally recognized scientist and public health leader. The panel will include:

Stuart Nichol, Ph.D.
Chief of the Viral Special Pathogens Branch in the Division of High-Consequence Pathogens and Pathology
National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases

Ilana Schafer, DVM, MSPH
Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer & Lieutenant in the Viral Special Pathogens Branch
National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases

Peter Rzeszotarski
Operations Branch Chief
Division of Emergency Operations

See the event page on the Atlanta Science Festival website for details and the most up-to-date information.
