This was so interesting! And I think the rain actually helped make it better, by allowing the scientists to talk in depth about their research without have us distracted by the animals. The work they do is fascinating and so important. Thank you!

Going in, I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm glad to say I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. I was impressed with the folks running the place. I found Dr Johnson's research on SIV especially interesting. Thank you for creating this meet-up!

The visit today was Excellent! The folks at the Yerkes facility were great and were set up and waiting for us. I've been wanting to visit Yerkes for years and today's presentations and tour did not disappoint. Thanks to Marc for arranging this, to Dr. Stuart for all his efforts @ Yerkes and congratulations to Dr. Paul Johnson who is taking over as director. And of course thanks to all the wonderful folks at Yerkes for setting up today, guiding us and giving us an insight into what they do!!

Any idea how long each tour lasts? Are you allowed to stay after the tour?

    March 29, 2014

    • Marc M.

Marianne - The time I went the tour progressed from enclosure to enclosure, each containing a particular species of primate. The enclosure were mostly outdoors and the viewing was done through the surrounding fences. I don't recall looking at any facilities and equipment. - Marc
