What are your favorite subjects regarding science?

I'm interested in zoology, particularly butterflies and birds. I'm very interested in gardening as it relates to native plants for wildlife. I'm interested in just about any type of life science.

Where do you currently get your science news?

Fernbank Science Center has an incredible science library and I get almost any science journal I need to read there. I also read journals on the internet, and news stories to stay up on the latest things happening.

What do you think will make science more appreciated and interesting to the general public?

As long as it is applicable to their daily lives people will pay attention, but if it doesn't have any meaning to what they go through on a daily basis, it doesn't have a reference.

I am a biologist at Fernbank Science Center in Atlanta since 1990. My areas of expertise are ornithology, environmental education, and establishing outdoor classrooms and gardens at schools. I also specialize in the biology of the monarch butterfly.
