Although I trained as a physicist, I have spent my professional life developing software. Nevertheless my interest in science has never dimmed. I enjoy meeting people who share my enthusiasm for this marvelous way of understanding the world.
Evolutionary biology and genetics; particle physics; neuroscience; cosmology, astrophysics and planetary science. Mathematics and computers, too, if they can be counted.
Print sources include Scientific American and The New York Times. Online sources are too numerous to list, but the EurekAlert website merits mention because it provides a stream of breaking science news with links to original material.
The best we can do is to communicate the sense of out-and-out wonder that is part and parcel of the scientific enterprise. By sharing our excitement for science with people, especially young people, we can cultivate their interest and appreciation.
