Reminder - Holiday Science Trivia Challenge is Tomorrow

Here's a final reminder - the Holiday Science Trivia Challenge is tomorrow.

For those uncertain of their science-trivia prowess, feel free to come and watch and enjoy the competition and get a better idea of what it is about. The slideshow presentation should be informative and entertaining in its own right, at least I hope so.

Along those lines, we could use an additional scorer. Respond to this email if you might be interested in helping out.

Prizes

There will be prizes of $50, $30 and $20 in Manuel’s Tavern gift certificates which winners can use on the spot.

Teams

You are welcome to compete with a ready-made team, but don’t worry if you don’t have one. Remember, this is a great opportunity to socialize and make new friends. Most teams are informal creations - find a seat, introduce yourself and you will be all set.

So that no one prevails by sheer numbers, we ask that you try to keep teams to 8 people or fewer.

Format

There are 4 rounds of 5 questions each, the last question of each round being a bonus question. Unlike conventional team trivia, all questions have multiple parts of equal value and there is no wagering of points. One part of each question is intended to be relatively straightforward. The others can be stumpers. The idea is to give every team a chance to participate in every question, while allowing the opportunity for some teams to distinguish themselves.

Hope to see you at the Tavern,
Marc
