Hi all!
This month, we have Sean Sullivan telling us about skepticism and economics. Or, rather, how we need more of one in the other.
From Sean:
"I graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in May 2009. I lived my whole life in rural Northeast Florida until July 2009 when I moved to Atlanta to work for Siemens Industry Inc. in their Industrial Automation Technical Development Program. I have always been interested in science and magic and I discovered skepticism about 5 years ago. I enjoy applying skepticism
to everything I learn about and I have been informally learning about economics and finance since I read Freakanomics two years ago.
"My talk is about why we don't know as much about our economic system as experts like to think, why economic and financial experts are overconfident in their market predictions, and how a skeptical approach to our economic system might help mitigate the effects of it's inherent unpredictability."
Come get more details from Sean on June 19th!
