Re: [Atlanta-Skeptics] Dragon*Con Vaccination Volunteers Just to mirror what Maria said – Peachtree Center mall is connected to the Marriott by tube and the Marta for Peachtree Center station lets out into the Mall itself but these are public areas and not part of Dragon*Con, so you don’t need a badge to be go there.

You’ll see plenty of eye candy and have great people watching even if you’re just in the mall area, as that is where most folks go to get food or hang out that is outside of the hotel areas which are pretty crowded. And getting there by Marta is really the best way as driving that close to the Con (Saturday a lot of streets are closed in the morning for the parade) or finding parking is really difficult. Even if you park at a Marta a few stops away, just to get in to the area without needing your car, it works really well, and will let you out directly at Peachtree Center.

Day passes are not that expensive if you choose to visit the Con after/before your volunteering. Friday and Sunday is $35 for all day, and Saturday is more (because that’s when the best stuff is) at $50. The bigger issue would be standing in line to get a day pass, which I expect would take awhile (at least an hour).

PS – replying to the list sends stuff to everyone, right? So if you don’t want messages as they are sent, you might want to receive the list in digest form right?

Unfortunately, we cannot provide free entrace to the con, as much as we'd like to! But because the clinic is not affiliated with Dragon*con and is actually just off main Dragon*Con site, you do not need a DC pass to help out.?

Thanks!
Maria

Hi all!

For those who weren't at last weekend's Skeptics in the Pub -- we have put together free TDAP (tetanus, diptheria, and pertussis) vaccinations during Dragon*Con. They will be given from 10am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday (9/4 and 9/5) at the Mall at Peachtree Center.

We need some volunteers to help out. Not sticking anyone with needles (please, don't stick anyone with needles), but taking pictures, talking to people who come in, helping the actual needle-stickers with anything -- stuff like that. It should be fun.

I have created a sign-up sheet for one-hour shifts on these two days. If you can help out, please sign up:

<https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AvS67Bf6esvAdG5kX2pyZFVnTFozMFVhRXhhZ3p6M3c&hl=en&authkey=CKPeg9EP> https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AvS67Bf6esvAdG5kX2pyZFVnTFozMFVhRXhhZ3p6M3c&hl=en&authkey=CKPeg9EP <https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AvS67Bf6esvAdG5kX2pyZFVnTFozMFVhRXhhZ3p6M3c&hl=en&authkey=CKPeg9EP>

Just pick the start time for your preferred shift, drop in your name, email, and a phone number. We'll use the email address to send you more details before the event, and the phone number in case we need to find you during Dragon*Con itself.

Feel free to sign up for multiple slots or blocks of time.

If you have any questions or problems with the sign-up sheet, please let me know!

Thanks, all!

Christian
